WHEN YOU FEEL LONELY

'Can't they see me?' 'Don't they care?' 'Am I just to be used and discarded like tissue paper?' 'Why can't someone just stop and ask how I am feeling?' These questions are endless. These questions are genuine.  These questions run deep.

We all often have had those moments in time and in life when it seems no one sees the real us or that either life has stopped, forgotten us or left us behind. We yearn for help, for a touch, for someone to just stop and see us.

I remember years ago crying out my heart in my office bathroom.  People loved and definitely still love me but at some point I felt really lonely. I guess in that season, I had just turned 40 and had a mixture of feelings. I was 40 but I didn't feel old neither was I young. Hahahaha! :) There was still the little girl CHINELO within who wanted to be seen, loved and  heard for who i really was and not just for the roles I played in others lives nor the positions I occupied. I began to allow some depressing thoughts take over my soul. I'd still sing or preach at Church, smile like a minister should, honor ministry invitations, hug many though bleeding inside but none could see that I needed to be loved for me. The emotional demands were stirring me in the face from home, church, society and my world in general. I had to wake myself up and come to terms with a few truths.

You see, when we allow those thoughts fester in our souls, if we are not careful we could be treading on dangerous grounds. We have to do something deliberate and intentional to get ourselves out of the quagmire of such thoughts.

The scriptures let us know that after God had created everything he said it wasn't good for the man to be alone so He divinely crafted a helper suitable for him. It is true that being alone and loneliness are two different things. However, the truth here is that God did something about it.

So here's a few of my two cents with regards to being lonely

1. Refuse every depressing thought when they flood your mind
2. Go to God in prayer and bear your heart honestly
3. Practice meditating on the promises of God in scripture
4. Look for someone to make feel special and do for them what you long for someone to do for you
5. Love on yourself a little by doing something special for you and if you can afford it take a trusted friend along
6. Play upbeat music and have yourself a good dance. Hey! If you don't know how to dance then humor yourself by dancing in front of a mirror and have a good laugh at your bad moves. You'd be shocked at how much that changes you mood.
7. If you've got enough courage speak with a trusted friend about how you feel and allow them love on you
6. Remind yourself that if its going to be, its up to you.  No one is the custodian of anybody else's happiness
9.  Every time we turn to the LORD and acquaint ourselves with Him, we find unexplainable joy that overwhelms every sense of darkness
10.  Life is short and must be lived to the maximum.  Time down here is pretty brief therefore, find ways to fill out your days with great and happy memories inspite of the raging storms around you

It's not God's will for you to live through life with all the blessings that He has showered on us by life feeling and living lonely.  Life is short and should be lived to the maximum.  Full and free from all unnecessary soul encumbrances.

Finally, sometimes if we look a little deeper and honestly, we feel lonely because we have become a little too selfish and introspective.  There's a local adage that flowing streams don't smell.  As long as we live a life where we reach out to others, ther'd be no room for loneliness.  If we also allow people into our zone.  There is a malady in today's world, some people have embraced the message of reaching out to others to the point that they have forgotten how to receive blessing themselves.  That is why there is the word BALANCE!

Always remember this though, no matter the matter, no matter the problem, no matter what you go through in this life, KEEP WALKING because life is short.
